UBRU Faculty of Public Health Partners with Dong Thap Medical College, Vietnam to Advance Public Health and Safety Collaboration in the Lower Mekong Subregion

On June 24, 2025, the Faculty of Public Health, Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University (UBRU) organized a project to advance community health development in collaboration with domestic and international networks in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

A key highlight was the forum on knowledge exchange under the theme:
“Public Health without Borders: Cultivating Next-Gen Collaborators for the Lower Mekong Basin”
held at Dong Thap Medical College, Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The forum aimed to promote the exchange of knowledge in education, research, and capacity building among public health students and professionals from countries in the Lower Mekong Subregion, including Thailand, Vietnam, Lao PDR, and Cambodia.

The opening session was honored by:

  • Mr. Nguyễn Tấn Hưng, Director of Dong Thap Medical College
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Phattharaphon Charoenbutr, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, UBRU
  • BS. CKII. Nguyễn Công Cừu, President of the Public Health Association, Dong Thap City

The event featured the following activities:

🔹 Presentation of the “Platform for Collaborative Learning & Research: One Health and Community Resilience”
by Asst. Prof. Dr. Phattharaphon Charoenbutr (Dean),
Dr. Duangdao Sudathip (Deputy Dean for Administration and Organizational Development),
Mr. Kritsada Thani (Lecturer, BPH Program),
and Mr. Keerati Upanisakorn (Academic Officer).

🔹 Discussion: Sharing Vision and Upcoming Collaborative Activities
(staff/student exchanges, joint research, short-term training, etc.)
led by Mr. Nguyễn Tấn Hưng, Dr. Phattharaphon Charoenbutr, BS. CKII. Nguyễn Công Cừu, and Dr. Duangdao Sudathip, including the presentation of a joint research project on antimicrobial resistance in humans, animals, and the environment under the One Health Approach.

🔹 “Sharing Impressions on the Learning Environment”
presented by students from Thailand, Vietnam, Lao PDR, and Cambodia,
along with a cultural performance by the “Nong La Khampeng” team from UBRU’s Faculty of Public Health.

The program concluded with a site visit to observe operations at Dong Thap Medical College.

🤝🏻 This event marks a significant milestone in promoting the concept of “One Health and Community Resilience,” strengthening sustainable academic networks in the Lower Mekong Subregion. Participation by students and staff from multiple countries reflects the potential of youth and educational institutions in driving Public Health without Borders.
